The IMS Global Learning Consortium (IMS/GLC) is a worldwide non-profit organization comprising contributing members and affiliates that develops and promotes the adoption of open technical specifications for interoperable learning technology. IMS specifications are being adopted as worldwide de facto standards for delivering learning products and services.
ANGEL Learning is an IMS Contributing Member. Our commitment to openness drives development of ANGEL LMS as an open system and our involvement in the standards community.
We demonstrate our commitment to the standards community by actively participating in standards creation and management. And, recently, when the IMS/GLC common cartridge effort presented a need for specifications and source code for content protection and user authorization, ANGEL Learning stepped in with a valuable contribution of our intellectual property.
The IMS/GLC common cartridge effort seeks to enable greater access to high quality digital learning materials by producing a standard form of the most commonly transacted educational content, a course level collection of objects, while also protecting the content developer’s intellectual property.
In June 2006, ANGEL Learning donated significant intellectual property to the development of the common cartridge standard and our chief technology officer David Mills has been directly involved in every detail of the standard's creation.
