Usability/Requirements Analyst

The Usability / Requirements Analyst ensures that ANGEL Learning delivers a market-leading Learning Management System (LMS) solution to our K12, Higher Ed, For-Profit and Virtual School customers. 

The Usability / Requirements Analyst will work across the entire spectrum of ANGEL LMS solutions with focus on these key tasks

  • Organize and synthesize customer enhancement requests.
  • Drive usability improvements across existing feature sets.
  • Create detailed specification documents for new features and approved usability enhancements.
  • Update specification documents as prototypes are developed and features move through development.
  • Assist in the research and development of new features

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Specification
The Usability / Requirement Analyst will create portions of the full product specification and is responsible for keeping the entire requirements document updated as the product progresses toward release.  Specifically:

  • Document maintenance
    The Usability / Requirements Analyst will update the main requirements document as changes are approved to both screen designs and business logic.  Work to ensure that final specification document accurately reflects the final shipping product.
  • New / updated feature requirements
    Create user interface guidelines and detailed UI requirements for approved enhancement requests and proposed usability updates. Will also document new product features in concert with Product Managers in support of new versions of ANGEL.
  • Screen designs
    The Usability / Requirements Analyst will create and gain approval for new interfaces required for the development of approved enhancements and usability updates.  Will also create designs in concert with Product Managers in support of new features.

The Usability / Requirements Analysts will participate in the process of vetting proposed specifications through our customer working group process. 

Customer Enhancement Requests
ANGEL benefits from a very supportive customer base many of whom have fostered valuable updates and additions to ANGEL.  The Usability / Requirements Analyst will formalize the request review and customer feedback process to ensure that our customer’s suggestions are properly organized and that our customers know the status of their requests.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Customer enhancement database
    The Usability / Requirements Analyst will be responsible for organizing and synthesizing the incoming product enhancement requests and providing Product Management with a prioritized plan for implementing approved requests.
  • Customer communications
    The Usability / Requirements Analyst will track the status of all enhancement requests and create a system of clear communication with our customers to ensure that they are aware of the status of their request(s).

Usability Enhancements
The Usability / Requirements Analyst will work with product management to continually review the usability of ANGEL LMS.  You will assist / run formal usability studies along with informal means of gathering customer feedback. Specific usability responsibilities include:

  • Review / improvement of current product
    Review and suggest usability enhancements to current ANGEL features.  Present proposed enhancements to both internal and customer working groups for feedback.  Consolidate responses into final proposal.
  • Create style guide / ensure consistency
    Create and maintain an application style guide to ensure consistent look, feel, and behavior across the application.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

Position Competencies:

  • Product specification.  Demonstrated ability to clearly document requirements, create user interface diagrams and document supporting business logic / interface behaviors.
  • Usability / design.  Human factors and design experience including at least two years of design management experience.  Candidate must also have extensive experience designing and executing formal usability studies.
  • Customer interaction.  Ability to confidently interact with customers, instilling confidence and clarity through effective communications.
  • Speed.  The candidate will have a history of moving with a good balance of speed and efficiency.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years of experience assisting in the design and documentation of software products or equivalent Academic experience in Master’s Informatics or Library / Information Science.
  • Degree in Informatics / Information Science a plus.
