Senior QA Technical and Automation Specialist

This Quality Assurance team member plays a major role in software testing tasks at ANGEL Learning, with focus on performance, load/capacity, automation, system stability tests and installation testing.  Daily tasks and project assignments are often dependent on current release schedules, and the ability to balance multiple products and projects at one time is key in this role.  Applying the effective and efficient use of automation is a key component of this position, as is working with various system configurations and utilizing virtual server environments for testing purposes.   Flexibility, multi-tasking and adaptability are important traits for someone in this position. 

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Product Quality Assurance:  Ensure that the quality of ANGEL Learning products meet corporate and customer goals.  Provide extensive input in the execution of product testing throughout the product’s life cycle and through to final production of the product.

Installation Testing:  Perform installation tests for ANGEL products’ install programs, in conjunction with product release schedules.

Automated Testing:  Implement automated testing model as it relates to functional and regression tests.  Identify key areas for automated tests and create processes for creating, executing and maintaining automated test scripts

Test Environment Administration:  Configure and maintain performance test environment; load balance testing environments, and other environments as needed.

Virtual Server Configuration and Re-use:  Maintain and extend current use of virtual server environments.  Define and Best Practices to best mimic ANGEL customer configurations.

Multiple Browser and Platform Testing:  Regularly perform functional and regression tests across multiple browsers on both PCs and Macintosh platforms.

QA Methodologies and Procedures:  Review and revise current QA procedures to include best practices for areas of automation and systems testing.

System Testing Standards:  Participate in the establishment of general system standards and rules for system testing.

Evaluation of Test Results  Review completed system test results to determine if functional objectives are met.  Create and maintain mechanism for reporting and tracking results of automated tests.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:  Other activities as required by the business from time to time.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

• Seven or more years of QA or technical software industry experience. 
• Experience testing Internet-based applications.
• Experience implementing automated testing as it pertains to functional and regression testing.
• Experience creating, executing and maintaining automated test scripts.
• Experience writing manual test plans from specifications and requirements documents.
• Ability to effectively communicate with others and to work closely with developers.
• Experience with performance, load/capacity and reliability testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related technical field.
• Extensive knowledge of the software development and release process and of the relationship between business requirements, technical specifications and manual and automated test plans.
• Excellent prioritization skills.
• Ability to work well within a team.
• Ability to work independently on major projects and to effectively report on milestone deliverables and progress towards those deliverables.
